Project Portfolio


Accounts Payable Decision System

  •  Tracks and reports capital and expense payables, budgets, projects, invoices and locations. Shows committed dollars. Includes telephone bill processing from outside vendor CD-ROM.


Ad Space Allocation System

  •  Used MS Access 97, MS SQL server and the Internet to create a system that enables buyers, ad managers, merchandisers, and design & production teams to collaborate on allocating and designing local media advertising campaigns. Provides for sharing ad content, images, layout, markets, production deadlines, availability of SKUs. Produces reports summarizing ad content. Enables re-use of ads.


Commercial Real Estate Broker System

  •  System architectural consultation regarding integration of REA real estate sales comparisons software package with custom MS Access 97 database. Interviews with REA developers, investigation of software capabilities and requirements, architectural design of solution, consultation in programming techniques to implement the solution.


Commissions Reconciliation System

  •  As with so many of our projects, we started with an existing MS Access system and carefully designed and inserted a new feature-set into it. We painstakingly mimicked the existing look and feel to retain a seamless, coherent application. This system uses a QuickBooks-like technique to reconcile Commission reports from a Carrier with the Insurance Agency's list of active groups and plans.


Community Schools Registration System

  •  Tracks student registrations and fees, faculty, and classes for a school district's community education programs. Prints class rosters and mailing labels.


Credit Life Policy and Commission Tracking System

  •  Application developed with Microsoft Access 97 that tracks and reports number of eligible loans, number of policies placed, commissions, lender and officer insurance license expiration dates.


Facilities Scheduling System

  •  Books facilities (rooms, gyms, etc) to a customer. Handles recurring bookings, conflict checking, invoicing, personnel, equipment and other costs. Displays grid of facilities, showing available and booked times.


Garden Center Purchasing and Distribution Planning System

  •  Our client had a giant set of Lotus spreadsheets that helped them buy plant materials from many growers and allocate them to many stores. The system handled cost and price information too, but it didn't have all the features they needed, and as spreadsheets tend to be, it was unwieldy and prone to breakdowns. Our replacement system computes store distribution plans based on quotations from growers and orders from stores. It helps plan for profitable pricing and it can allocate "windfall" product lots to stores based on their selling capabilities. MS Visual Basic.


Grant and Research Tracking and Reporting System

  •  Tracks grant amounts and responsible staff for research projects. Produces complex periodic reports for controlling agencies and management. Borland Delphi.


Image Searching and Tracking System

  •  Stores directory of photographic images and attributes for searching by predefined terms or free form text. Links to external web site for display. MS SQL Server.


Insurance Rating Module

  •  Computes insurance premium for autos, boats and real estate for several major carriers. For a national specialty insurance agency. Computes return premium on cancellations.


Insurance Services Portal Site

  •  Design and implementation of a Coldfusion powered, MS SQL Server driven website that offers encrypted access to confidential insurance data to a nationwide customer base.


Job Tracking and Costing System

  •  The system controls projects for a metal working shop with a back office staff of 6. It tracks jobs from initial bid to final invoicing, including materials and labor by skill. Many of our projects have been conversions from Paradox to MS Access. We wrote this system in Paradox for DOS when that was the best and most appropriate tool for desktop databases. When our client needed a major upgrade, we rewrote the system in the now-dominant product MS Access.


Law Office Conflict Checking System

  •  A database of matters, clients and attorneys for law office. Provides for searching for potential conflicts of interest.


Loan Status Tracking and Notice Printing

  •  A large distributed system that maintains a central database of loans for multiple lenders. Produces and maintains distributed replicas for each lender allowing data entry at each site. Monitors statuses over time and automatically prints reminder letters.


Miscellaneous Cash Receipts System

  •  Records daily miscellaneous cash receipts, often in millions of dollars, and enables accounting distributions, intra-company inquiries, and daily deposits with batch controls. Created using Microsoft Access 97.


Project Budgeting and Approval System

  •  Tracks software projects from initial request through approval, budgeting, and implementation for a multi-million dollar Information Services department. MS Access.


Rental Property Tracking System

  •  Provided maintenance and enhancement service for a rental unit accounting system written using Paradox 9 and Delphi.


Rental Survey System

  •  Provided update and maintenance for a Paradox 9 based rental survey system.


Retail Price Recommendation System

  •  Recommends retail prices for items based on price survey comparison data and cost. This system imports competitive price survey data from an external agency and produces reports comparing competitor prices and recommending price changes based on our client's pricing policies. One of our many conversions and enhancements from Paradox to MS Access.


Sales & Service Database

  •  Creation of a job, service history, and contact database in MS Access 97 to replace an existing PFS database.


Security Systems and Alarm Monitoring Database

  •  Design and development of sales prospecting and sales force effectiveness measuring system. The application tracks sales calls, commissions, and proportion of calls turning into sales. MS Access 97. Developed collaboratively with Mary T. Davis Computer Services.


Shopper Trip Tracking

  •  Collect and analyse grocery cart trip data within a store using radio locating. We plot product locations within the store, show trip routes and durations, match trips with product purchases, produce trip maps and statistical summaries. The system uses a variety of sophisticated data correction techniques, including neural network models and intelligent heuristics. Visual Basic, Delphi, SQL Server.


Union Health and Welfare Payment System

  •  Prepares check requests for an employer to union benefit trusts based on monthly data received from AS400 Payroll system. Provides for adjustments and aggregation of employee records.


Video Store Supplies Order and Distribution System

  •  Stores inventory, handles customer orders and reports on ordering trends.


Volunteer Participation, Leadership, and Awards System

  •  Tracks volunteer participation and leadership for events. Reports awards earned but not yet awarded, etc.


Warehouse Inventory System

  •  Stores inventory, handles customer orders, prints pick lists, handles shipping and receiving, and purchase orders.


Web Site log analysis and reporting system

  •  We scrub this vast volume of data and report by site page on the hits during a period of time. Our MS SQL Server handles 10s of millions of records per month.


Workers Compensation Database

  •  Records Workers Compensation claims.
